Program/Service Notes:
A regional community education and leadership program that helps people advocate for themselves and become leaders in their communities. Programs support community members of all ages. Projects include: WV Dreamers VISTA Program: places VISTA workers in Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan and Mingo counties to help develop family leadership, after school and summer programs, youth leadership and jobs training programs. Family Links: trains parents and other volunteers to help their peers with developing strategies for their family's education, health and economic welfare. Family Leadership First (FLF): fiscal sponsor for a statewide coalition of family leadership groups that include the Family Leadership conference at Canaan Valley and the Family Links outreach program. Front Porch Project: engages older teens and young adults in providing home repairs and other support for elderly and disabled. Special focus is on renovations to make homes accessible for safety and independence.
