Settling a Score
A student hoping to take classes at Marshall University became a client at Literacy Volunteers of Putnam County. The student needed assistance with the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The student’s first attempt at the test yielded a score of 490, missing the score of 500 required by Marshall.

The Capitol Club Leadership Giving Program
Leadership giving through the Capitol Club represents the cornerstone upon which United Way of Central West Virginia is built. Founded in 1984, the Capitol Club has grown from 190 members raising $201,542 to more than 800 members raising more than $1.33 million this past year.
For $41.70 a month, a donor is recognized as a member of the Capitol Club. Spouses/partners may combine their gifts for recognition at one of the following levels:
