“United Way of Central West Virginia is pleased to have Toyota WV and WV American Water supporting this outreach to kids and families across the counties we serve,” said Margaret Ann O’Neal, President of the United Way of Central West Virginia. “Our hope is to provide a free picnic, fun activities and books for kids, plus share information about access to critical services through WV 211 and our United Way office.”
Puddles the Duck will be on hand to pose for pictures with the kids.
The event will also promote the return of the Great Rubber Ducky Race. The event will take place on Saturday, September 4 over Labor Day Weekend in Charleston. The United Way of Central West Virginia will adopt 5,000 ducks that will be dropped from the South Side Bridge that connects Downtown Charleston to South Hills. All proceeds will directly support United Way health, education, financial stability and safety net programs that are vital to our communities. The top prize is $4000 cash award. To adopt a flock of ducks or individual quacker, visit www.unitedwaycwv.org and click on the Duck Race header. You can also text the word DUCK to 313131 and be redirected to the secure adopting site or just call the office at 304.340.3500.
